While I have no doubt that the software experience will get better over time, you simply cannot beat the combined quality and simplicity that dedicated cameras can offer. While Portrait Mode on my iPhone X yields very nice results, it can sometimes take quite a bit of finesse to get it to blur the shot properly. With software-based innovations like Apple’s Portrait Mode, it has further lessened the need to carry large cameras since we are now able to achieve bokeh effects similar to what dedicated cameras offer. With stiff competition between companies like Apple and Samsung, smartphone manufacturers are kept on their toes when it comes to the camera tech they choose to put into their latest devices. This competition has led us to a place where we are able to snap high-quality photos from anywhere thanks to these pocketable devices. If you are anything like me, you are happy to wield your iPhone X or Samsung Galaxy S9 as your main camera. This is something that has built since the company’s founding in 1917 and a commitment to digital cameras since the early 1990s. The Nikon brand is well-respected in the camera industry, with most of its cameras receiving 4+ star ratings from customers. In the company’s press release, Nikon touted that the P1000 offers the world’s highest optical zoom among cameras in its class. The new camera is predictably named the COOLPIX P1000 and increases its range to a mind-boggling 3000mm. Nikon has announced a follow-up to its COOLPIX P900 super-telephoto camera that offered a jaw-dropping 24-2000mm focal range.
